A Look Back on 2022

As the year draws to a close, I gratefully reflect on a year of growth in our company. When I founded PH Pianos 10 years ago, I hoped it would bring Danish-designed pianos and furniture attention at an international level.
Success requires doing the right thing in the right place, at the right time, with a bit of luck. This year, we have seen some amazing developments- I would like to call them successes- that I am very pleased to share with you.

Proud craftsmanship

In 2022 we had amazing customers with very special requests, and we were able to deliver pianos all over the world from the hands of our master craftsmen at our workshop.

Our clients asked for custom woodwork, special metalwork, and the best piano actions in the world. I must mention just a few of my favorite projects.

Tom Dixon

We were delighted to be contacted by Tom Dixon to collaborate with them on an amazing Penthouse project in London, by Herzog & de Meuron.

Throughout the year we have been asked to do more custom PH Pianos including for example a very unique Legacy edition of the PH Grand Piano for a customer in Japan and the crafting of a special PH Upright Piano with solid brass details for a New York customer.

The processes of creating these custom PH Pianos together with the customers and wonderful interior designers have been amazing experiences.

Sasha Bikoff

I made a visit to New York at the end of the year and it was such a pleasure meeting with several of our very good cooperation partners, customers and designers. It also afforded me the opportunity to visit our friend Sasha Bikoff, who has collaborated with us on a special edition of a PH Piano that will be released very early in 2023, along with another 2023 release with an internationally renowned Glass designer.

The First Curated Edition

This fall, we launched our amazing Curated Edition instrument in collaboration with the Danish UNESCO site, Stevns Klint Experience

This piano is the subject of a short film that we will release in January 2023 about the making of a PH Piano. It also was featured in Pianist Magazine, a well-known UK-based publication for all things piano. In the summer, Pianist Magazine featured us in a beautiful story about how we began only ten years ago with the amazing designs of Poul Henningsen.

A Royal Visit

In Denmark, it is a very special honor to see Her Majesty, The Queen Margrethe. Our PH Piano was brought to the royal residence Amalienborg for a very special broadcast event in March. The Queen’s opening ceremonies of the Stevns Klint Experience also featured our piano. We are very honored by her attention.

Events & Gatherings

We had many musical events in our Copenhagen flagship showroom this year, now possible because of our newly expanded showroom. We made a project with the Royal Danish Academy of Music, hosted album releases, shot music videos, and participated in design events throughout the year.

I am very pleased to share that PH Pianos and PH Furniture will be much easier to experience in person in the next year. We have made agreements with dealers in China, Canada and Korea, and are finalizing agreements in other markets as well.

New Interior Collections

Speaking of furniture, we have also been busy with new developments and projects. We have spent a lot of time and resources on developing and producing the first furniture pieces of a completely new collection designed by more Scandinavian designers as well as in-house. The pieces have arrived in our showroom and will be launched internationally in the coming year together with more new pieces that are already in the pipeline for development and production.

We also have introduced the iconic PH Steel tube furniture pieces in color. Originally, Poul Henningsen’s Steel-tube pieces were only available in chromed finish. This is a wonderful development that allows us to produce these licensed Danish design pieces in a sustainable and environmentally ‘right’ production and I am very proud to take our company in this direction.

Of course I have to mention our incredible Speakers! We have launched our line of audio with glass ball speakers, that can be configured with a subwoofer base, in collaboration with our glass artisan colleagues. We have received amazing reviews both of the design and the sound quality. The first customers for these very unique speakers - with outstanding sound quality - will have their speakers delivered at the beginning of the next year. The speakers are a beginning of a new journey where we integrate our music and interior in ways never seen before in the market.

2022 has been a very dynamic and promising year. And, I want to express my sincere gratitude to our customers for having trust in us and I must thank our incredible craftsmen, suppliers, designers, and the whole team for paving the way for our next chapter together.
