PH Pianos are special, collectible instruments with a rich design heritage. Designed by Poul Henningsen in the 1930s, these designs are produced under exclusive worldwide license by ToneArt, based in Copenhagen Denmark. At ToneArt, we have studied every facet of the PH Piano designs, and have accumulated years of expertise in handcrafting our pianos.
Impeccable level of detail
The frame of each one of our pianos is built by hand. From the wood veneers, finishes, and metal trims of the piano’s case to the many moving parts inside the piano action, the instrument has been carefully assembled and inspected by our craftsmen. Each instrument we make achieves the high standards of quality and aesthetics that PH Pianos stands for.
Precise and Careful Work
With every PH Piano, customers can expect excellence in craftsmanship, material, and even in the smallest details of each edition of our piano models. Consider the lid of the PH Grand Legacy edition takes 24 days to hand-carve. From the stitching of the leather banding on the PH Grand Piano to the perfect curvature of the bows atop the PH Bow Grand Piano, every detail has been constructed with care.
Inside every PH Piano one finds an equally high level of craftsmanship. Comprised of thousands of moving parts, the piano action must be meticulously adjusted and regulated to ensure a high-quality tone and touch. Each key is individually fitted, weighted, and calibrated to produce an even touch across the full keyboard. Every hammer must be adjusted by hand to ensure perfect contact with the strings.
Made to Measure
Using Renner parts for the piano action, and working exclusively with very fine-quality materials and parts, we handcraft our pianos and can adjust each instrument’s touch and tone.
We can provide our instruments with a self-playing system as well as a silent-playing system upon request. Each model of PH Piano is available in several sizes.
