PH Piano Bench

The PH Piano Bench is totally unique and is designed by Poul Henningsen sometime in the 1930’s together with a PH Grand Piano that went to a customer in the US.

It is unique and playful

The design of the chromed steel legs is unusual and entirely unique, crafted with a playful or humorous expression. The branching at the end of the leg resembles two feet, slightly tilted upward at the ends, and, combined with a gentle curve in the steel legs themselves, evokes associations with Charlie Chaplin's characteristic foot and leg stance.

This playful expression is the same that is referenced and found in several of PH’s steel-tube furniture pieces from the same period. We believe that the design demands a particularly inventive mind to conceive and execute it—something only PH could achieve.

Thanks to the distinctive chromed steel legs, the piano bench stands out significantly from all other traditional piano benches, both of its time and today, in much the same way that the PH grand piano has always distinguished itself from conventional grand pianos.

Furthermore, we observe that the design and construction of the steel legs—particularly in the upper section beneath the seat—feature the same shape, curves, and circular arcs as seen in other PH furniture, including, for example, the wooden and brass legs designed by PH in the 1920s.

Playful expression

The PH Piano Bench is unique and playful and, consequently, designed with the same philosophy as all the other PH Furniture pieces as well as the PH Pianos.

We’re so proud that we can also offer this PH Piano Bench exclusively and match it to the PH Piano.
