Amanda Palmer, the Open Piano For Refugees Event and The PH Grand Piano

At the end of October 2019 PH Pianos were delighted to loan a PH Grand Piano to the Open Piano for Refugees Event that took place at the Sceneindgangen Dance Studio in Copenhagen. The purpose of this event was to raise money for the DoRoMi social music school in Vienna. The DoRoMi social music institute provides music lessons for refugees and socially disadvantaged people.

At the music institute all are welcome: it is a place for participants to improve their German language skills and well as learning to play a musical instrument. The DoReMi music school creates an environment that makes music enjoyable and improves the confidence of it’s participants to communicate and perform through music.

Amanda Palmer – who is a solo musician as well as one half of the band The Dresden Dolls – volunteered to perform at the Sceneindgangen Dance Studio, playing the PH Grand Piano while singing to the audience who had gathered. This important performance was a successful fundraising event for the DoRoMi music school which relies on charitable donations to continue it’s work.

As Amanda Palmer said later, the piano was a ‘work of art’ and ‘the gig was transcendent, we told stories and raised money, and I love the world’.

PH Pianos are so happy to learn that the audience enjoyed Amanda Palmer’s wonderful performance on the stunning PH Grand Piano and we are also so pleased to support both the Open Pianos for Refugees Event in Copenhagen and the DoReMi Music School in Vienna.
